Johnny Depp joins Whitey Bulger Biopic, ‘Black Mass’. The crime thriller will be directed by Oscar winner, Barry Levinson (Rain Man and Bugsy). Johnny Depp plays James Joseph “Whitey” Bulger in the film.

Bulger was an crime figure from Boston known as a Robin Hood character. He masterminded a protection racket and targeted drug kingpins and illegal gambling operations. While he was beloved by many, he was indicted for 19 murders. Bulger was an informant for the FBI, exchanging information on other crime families for the protection of his own crime family. He ran for 16 years and finally arrested in 2011. He was the FBI Ten Most Wanted list.
