Aamir Khan has lived up to the popular saying that 'Winners don't do different things, they do things differently'. This actor has modified and changed many existing theories of Bollywood. He does only one movie at a time, does not accept any award and his movies become trendsetting classics. Not only through his movies, Aamir showed his character when he made his debut on small screen also with 'Satyamev Jayate' - a show which highlighted social issues in the country and their possible preventive measures.

On his 48th birthday, HPBolly salutes this legend and presents you his 5 best performances ever:

1.) Lagaan: Aamir Khan lived the character of Bhuvan in this period movie directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The movie was nominated as the Official Indian entry for Oscars and was shortlisted in the Top 5 Best Foreign Movie category for Oscars.

2.) Rangeela: Most definitely Aamir gave his life and soul to the tapori character Munna of Rangeela. Such was the impact of his acting, that inspite of great act by Urmila and superb music by A.R.Rahman, one only feels for the character of Munna.

3.) 3 Idiots:
To play the role of an Engineering Student to perfection at the age of 44 is not a meager achievement by any standards. Aamir left a lasting impression as Rancho in this Raj Kumar Hirani movie. No doubt, the movie is the highest grosser of Indian Cinema till date.

4.) Sarfarosh:
Aamir essayed the role of an IPS officer, ACP Rathore, in this movie. In this film based on cross border terrorism, Aamir's no-nonsense serious character was impressive to say the least. The movie is more special as it got released during the Kargil war.

5.) Rang De Basanti:
Aamir played modern day Chandra Shekhar Azad in this movie directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Aamir acted with young actors like Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan and excelled in his portrayal of Diljeet (known as DJ). The film had parallel screenplays running simultaneously.
